Jujol Jewellery Inspired by Park Güell

Jujol Jewellery Inspired by Park Güell

A project by the Amics de Jujol Association

This jewellery collection is part of a project by Associació Amics de Jujol, an organisation devoted to preserving and sharing the legacy of Josep Maria Jujol, one of the most remarkable architects and artists of Catalan Modernisme. Associació Amics de Jujol.

Choosing one of these necklaces is more than acquiring an unusual piece of jewellery. It also supports the promotion and conservation of Jujol’s work and helps keep his artistic memory alive.

The history and symbolism of Park Güell’s suns

Park Güell’s Hypostyle Room was designed by Antoni Gaudí as a covered market, supported by 86 Doric columns evoking a forest. On its ceiling, Josep Maria Jujol created four suns and fourteen moons, symbols linked to the seasons and the passage of time. Discover the Hypostyle Room.

The Sun Necklaces interpret those trencadís mosaics, made using fragments of ceramic and glass, and even pieces of broken porcelain dolls.

Through Amics de Jujol, those decorative motifs become pieces of designer jewellery: a way to carry a small part of Catalan Modernisme with you.

The collection

The four necklaces draw inspiration from the suns on the Hypostyle Room ceiling. Each has its own story, symbolism and identity.

The figures have been associated with Apollo and Artemis, the Greek sun and moon deities, and with Hermes, linked to trade and communication. Jujol wove these ideas into his distinctive Modernista imagination.
